The short version:  We use cookies to keep the Platform running, remember your preferences, understand how people use the site, and — with your consent — support marketing. You can manage non-essential cookies through our cookie banner or your browser settings.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device — computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners about how their site is being used.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They cannot access other files on your device. A cookie can only be read by the website that created it.

In addition to cookies, we and our service providers may use similar tracking technologies including:

  • Web beacons (also called pixel tags or clear GIFs): Tiny transparent images embedded in web pages or emails that allow us to detect when a page has been viewed or an email has been opened.
  • Local storage: A browser feature that allows websites to store data locally on your device, similar to cookies but with greater storage capacity.
  • Session storage: Like local storage, but data is cleared when you close your browser tab.
  • JavaScript tags: Small pieces of code that collect information about how you interact with the Platform.

When we use the term “cookies” in this Policy, we are referring to all of these technologies collectively unless otherwise specified.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for four main purposes, each described below. Some cookies are essential to the Platform’s operation and are always active. Others are optional and are only used with your consent where required by applicable law.

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. Without them, core features such as logging in, adding items to your cart, and completing checkout would not work. Because they are strictly necessary, they cannot be disabled through our cookie settings.

Strictly necessary cookies are used for:

  • Maintaining your login session so you do not have to re-enter your credentials on every page.
  • Keeping your shopping cart intact as you browse.
  • Remembering items in your cart between sessions.
  • Security functions, including CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection.
  • Load balancing and server session management.
  • Storing your cookie consent preferences.

2.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalized features. They may be set by us or by third-party service providers whose services we have integrated into our Platform.

Functional cookies are used for:

  • Remembering your preferred language or region settings.
  • Remembering your shipping address or saved preferences to speed up future checkouts.
  • Remembering your account display preferences, such as sort order or view settings.
  • Enabling live chat or customer support tools to recognize returning visitors.

If you disable functional cookies, some features may not work as expected, but the Platform will remain usable.

2.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Platform by collecting and reporting information about usage patterns. This data is used in aggregate to improve the Platform’s design, performance, and content. We do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users.

Analytics cookies are used to measure:

  • Which pages are visited most frequently.
  • How long visitors spend on each page.
  • Where visitors come from (search engines, direct links, referral sites).
  • What search terms are used within the Platform.
  • At what point visitors exit the Platform (bounce rate and exit pages).
  • Technical performance metrics such as page load times and errors.

Analytics data helps us make informed decisions about improving the Platform. For example, if analytics show that a particular page has a high exit rate, we investigate whether there is a usability or content issue to address.

We will update this cookie inventory when new cookies or tracking technologies are added to the Platform. If you notice a cookie that is not listed here, please contact us at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com.

4. Your Cookie Choices

You have several options for managing cookies on the Platform. Your choices are remembered through your cookie consent preferences, stored on your device.

4.1 Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit the Platform, a cookie consent banner will appear giving you the option to accept all cookies, accept only necessary cookies, or customize your preferences by category. You can revisit and update your choices at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the website footer.

Please note:

  • Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the Platform to function.
  • Disabling functional cookies may affect your experience, such as requiring you to re-enter preferences on each visit.
  • Disabling analytics cookies means we will not collect usage data from your visits.

Disabling marketing cookies means you will not receive targeted Off Trail Market advertising on other platforms, though you may still see generic advertising.

4.2 Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
  • View all cookies stored on your device and delete them individually or in bulk.
  • Block all cookies or cookies from specific websites.
  • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set.
  • Enable private or incognito browsing mode, which does not retain cookies after the session ends.
Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:
  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data.
Note that blocking all cookies through your browser will prevent the Platform from functioning correctly, as strictly necessary cookies will also be blocked.

4.3 Opt Out of Analytics

If you wish to opt out of analytics tracking specifically, you may be able to do so through your browser or through tools provided by individual analytics providers. For example:

  • Google Analytics Opt-Out: Google provides a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout that prevents your data from being used by Google Analytics.
  • Other providers may offer similar opt-out mechanisms — consult the relevant provider’s privacy policy for details.

4.4 Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising

If you wish to opt out of interest-based advertising from third-party advertising partners, you can use the following industry opt-out tools:

  • Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA): optout.aboutads.info
  • Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): optout.networkadvertising.org
  • European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA, for EU users): youronlinechoices.eu

Using these opt-out tools does not remove all advertising; it limits the use of your data for interest-based ad targeting. You may still see generic, non-targeted advertisements.

5. Do Not Track

The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly use cookies to track children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the Platform and cookies have been collected, please contact us at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com and we will take steps to address the situation.

6. Cookies and Children

Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

At this time, the Platform does not alter its data collection or use practices in response to DNT signals. If a standard is established and we update our practices accordingly, we will revise this Policy.

7. International Users and Cookie Law

7.1 European Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your use of cookies is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive (EU Cookie Law). Under these regulations, non-essential cookies may only be set after you have given explicit, informed consent. Our cookie consent banner is designed to comply with these requirements.

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal. To withdraw consent, update your preferences through our cookie settings link in the footer.

7.2 California Users

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, which may include data collected through certain marketing cookies. Off Trail Market does not sell personal information. If marketing cookies used by third-party partners are considered “sharing” under California law, you may opt out through our cookie settings or the industry opt-out tools described in Section 4.4.

7.3 Other Jurisdictions

Cookie regulations continue to evolve in many jurisdictions. We are committed to updating our cookie practices to reflect applicable legal requirements as they develop. If you have questions about how our cookie practices apply in your jurisdiction, contact us at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and tracking technologies we use, changes in applicable law, or updates to our Platform. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy on the Platform with a revised effective date and, where appropriate, display the cookie consent banner again to collect fresh consent.

We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
