How Shipping Works on OTM:

Off Trail Market is a multi-vendor marketplace. Each order is shipped directly by the independent vendor who sold the item — not by Off Trail Market. Shipping costs, carriers, and timelines vary by vendor. When you order from multiple vendors in a single checkout, your items will arrive in separate shipments, each with its own tracking number.

1. Overview

This Shipping Policy explains how shipping works on Off Trail Market, including how shipping costs are calculated, how orders are fulfilled, how to track your shipment, and what to do if something goes wrong in transit.

Because Off Trail Market connects buyers with independent vendors, shipping is managed at the vendor level. Each vendor is responsible for packing, labeling, and tendering shipments to the carrier within their stated processing window. Off Trail Market provides the shipping infrastructure and integration through our shipping partner, Shippo, but does not physically handle or ship any products.

Vendors are required to review and comply with the vendor-facing shipping obligations set forth in Section 9 of this Policy.

2. Shipping Costs

2.1 How Shipping Costs Are Calculated

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on:

  • The weight and dimensions of the items in your order.
  • The shipping origin (vendor location) and your delivery address.
  • The shipping method selected by you or defaulted by the vendor.
  • The carrier rates applicable to that shipment.

Shipping costs are displayed before you complete your purchase. The amount shown at checkout is the final shipping charge for that vendor’s portion of your order.

2.2 Shipping Markup

Off Trail Market operates a hybrid shipping model in which some shipping labels are generated through the Platform’s Shippo integration. When platform-generated labels are used, a shipping service fee is incorporated into the rate presented at checkout. This fee supports the shipping infrastructure, label generation, and carrier integrations that make the Platform’s shipping system possible. The total shipping cost shown to you at checkout is inclusive of any such fee.

2.3 Free Shipping

Some vendors may offer free shipping on select items or orders over a certain value. Free shipping eligibility and thresholds are set by each vendor individually and will be displayed on the product listing or at checkout. Free shipping offers apply only to the vendor’s own items and do not carry over to items from other vendors in the same order.

2.4 Multi-Vendor Orders

When you purchase items from more than one vendor in a single checkout, shipping is calculated separately for each vendor’s portion of your order. You will see individual shipping charges for each vendor during checkout. Each vendor ships independently, so you will receive multiple shipments with separate tracking numbers. Combined shipping across vendors is not available.

3. Processing Times

Processing time is the amount of time it takes a vendor to prepare and ship your order after it is placed. Processing time is separate from shipping transit time.

Each vendor sets their own processing time, which is displayed on their shop profile and individual product listings. Processing times vary by vendor and by product type, and may be longer for:

  • Handmade or custom items requiring production time.
  • High-demand periods such as holidays or sale events.
  • Items that require special handling or packaging.

Off Trail Market does not control vendor processing times. If a vendor’s processing time is important to your purchase decision, we recommend reviewing it before completing your order. If you need an item by a specific date, contact the vendor through the Platform’s messaging system before purchasing to confirm they can meet your timeline.

4. Shipping Methods and Carriers

4.1 Available Shipping Methods

Available shipping methods depend on each vendor’s configuration and the carriers supported through our Shippo integration. Methods may include:

  • Standard ground shipping (typically 3 to 7 business days in transit).
  • Expedited shipping (typically 2 to 3 business days in transit).
  • Priority or overnight shipping (typically 1 to 2 business days in transit).
  • Flat-rate shipping options where offered by the vendor.

Not all shipping methods are available from all vendors. The methods available for your order will be displayed at checkout.

4.2 Carriers

Off Trail Market’s Shippo integration supports major U.S. carriers including USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Individual vendors may use any of these carriers depending on their configuration, package size, and delivery destination. The carrier used for your order will be reflected in your tracking information once the label is generated.

4.3 Carrier Selection

Carrier selection for a given shipment is determined by the vendor based on their configuration and the available rates for your order. Off Trail Market does not guarantee the use of any specific carrier. If you have a carrier preference, contact the vendor through the Platform’s messaging system before placing your order.

5. Delivery Estimates

Estimated delivery dates displayed at checkout are calculated based on the vendor’s stated processing time plus the carrier’s estimated transit time for the selected shipping method. These estimates are provided for planning purposes only and are not guaranteed delivery dates.

Actual delivery times may vary due to:

  • Carrier delays, including weather-related delays, peak volume periods, and operational disruptions.
  • Address verification issues or incorrect address information provided by the buyer.
  • Customs clearance for international shipments (see Section 7).
  • Remote or rural delivery locations where carrier service is less frequent.
  • Events beyond the control of Off Trail Market or the vendor, including natural disasters, strikes, or other force majeure events.

 

Off Trail Market and vendors are not responsible for carrier delays once a shipment has been tendered to the carrier with a valid tracking number. If your order has not arrived within a reasonable time beyond the estimated delivery date, see Section 8 for next steps.

6. Order Tracking

6.1 Tracking Notifications

Once your order has been shipped and a tracking number has been generated, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number and a link to track your shipment. Tracking information is also available in your account order history.

6.2 Tracking Updates

Tracking information is provided by the carrier and updated as your package moves through the carrier’s network. Off Trail Market does not control carrier tracking systems. Initial tracking scans may take up to 24 to 48 hours to appear after a label is generated, particularly for USPS shipments.

6.3 Multiple Tracking Numbers

If you ordered from more than one vendor, you will receive separate shipping confirmation emails with separate tracking numbers for each vendor’s shipment. It is normal for items from a multi-vendor order to arrive on different days.

7. International Shipping

7.1 Availability

International shipping availability is determined by each individual vendor. Not all vendors ship internationally. If a vendor does not offer international shipping, their products will not be available for purchase from international addresses. International shipping options, if available, will be displayed during checkout.

7.2 Customs, Duties, and Import Taxes

International shipments may be subject to customs inspection, import duties, taxes, and other fees assessed by the destination country. These charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the shipping cost displayed at checkout. Off Trail Market and vendors have no control over customs processes or the fees assessed by foreign governments.

Customs processing times vary by country and can add significant time to international deliveries. Off Trail Market and vendors are not responsible for delays caused by customs clearance.

7.3 Restricted and Prohibited Items for Export

Certain products available on the Platform may be subject to U.S. export restrictions or may be prohibited for import into certain countries. It is the buyer’s responsibility to verify that the items they are purchasing are legal to import into their country. Off Trail Market and vendors are not responsible for shipments that are seized, held, or returned by customs due to import restrictions.

8. Lost, Delayed, or Damaged Shipments

8.1 Delayed Shipments

If your shipment has not been delivered within 7 business days beyond the estimated delivery date, and tracking information has not been updated in 5 business days, please take the following steps:

  1. Check your tracking information for any carrier alerts, delivery exceptions, or pickup notifications.
  2. Verify that your delivery address was entered correctly at checkout.
  3. Check with neighbors or building management in case the package was delivered nearby or held.
  4. Contact the vendor through the Platform’s messaging system to report the delay.

If the vendor is unable to resolve the issue, contact Off Trail Market at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com.

8.2 Lost Shipments

A shipment is considered lost if tracking shows no movement for 10 or more business days and the carrier cannot confirm delivery or locate the package. In the event of a lost shipment:

  • Contact the vendor first to report the issue and initiate a carrier investigation.
  • Off Trail Market may assist in filing a claim with the carrier where applicable.
  • If the carrier confirms the shipment is lost, the vendor is responsible for either reshipping the order or issuing a full refund, at the vendor’s election, in accordance with our Return and Refund Policy.
  • If the vendor is unresponsive, escalate to Off Trail Market at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com.

8.3 Damaged Shipments

If your item arrives damaged, please take the following steps as soon as possible:
  • Photograph the damaged item and the packaging, including all sides of the box and any visible damage to the exterior.
  • Do not discard the packaging, as it may be required for a carrier insurance claim.
  • Contact the vendor through the Platform’s messaging system within 5 business days of delivery, including your photographs.
  • The vendor will assess the damage and determine next steps, which may include a replacement shipment, a partial refund, or a carrier claim.
  • If the vendor is unresponsive or the resolution is unsatisfactory, escalate to Off Trail Market at Admin@OffTrailMarket.com.
Damage caused by inadequate vendor packaging is the vendor’s responsibility. Damage caused by carrier mishandling of properly packaged goods is subject to carrier insurance claims. Off Trail Market will assist in facilitating claims where possible but is not financially liable for carrier-caused damage.

8.4 Delivered but Not Received

If your tracking shows delivered but you have not received your package, please:
  • Wait 24 hours, as carriers occasionally mark packages delivered before they are actually left at the door.
  • Check with neighbors, building management, or any household members.
  • Check any alternate delivery locations the carrier may have used (mailroom, package locker, front office).
  • Contact your local carrier facility with your tracking number to request a delivery investigation.
  • Contact the vendor if the above steps do not resolve the issue.
A confirmed delivery scan creates a presumption that the package was delivered to the correct address, but does not automatically foreclose a claim. Off Trail Market will review disputes involving packages marked as delivered for indicators of misdelivery, carrier error, or theft. Supporting documentation — such as the result of a carrier delivery investigation, photographs of the delivery location, or a police report — may be requested to support a claim. Off Trail Market and vendors are not liable for packages confirmed delivered to the correct address where no misdelivery or carrier error can be established.

9. Vendor Shipping Obligations

All vendors on Off Trail Market are required to comply with the following shipping standards as a condition of their vendor account:

9.1 Processing Time Accuracy

Vendors must accurately state their processing times in their shop profile and on individual listings. Processing times must be kept current. Vendors experiencing temporary delays (due to high volume, travel, or other circumstances) must update their shop profile to reflect extended processing times and may notify existing orders of the delay.

9.2 Timely Fulfillment

Vendors must have a reasonable basis for any processing time, ship-by date, or delivery estimate stated in their shop profile or product listings. Processing times must reflect realistic fulfillment capacity and must be kept current.  Vendors are required to ship orders within their stated processing window. If a vendor cannot ship within the stated time for any reason, the vendor must: (a) promptly notify the buyer through the Platform’s messaging system and notify Off Trail Market; (b) provide a specific revised shipment date; and (c) offer the buyer the right to cancel the order for a full refund, including any shipping charges paid.  If a revised shipment date would result in a delay exceeding 30 days from the original ship-by date, if the revised date is indefinite, or if this is a second or subsequent delay on the same order, the vendor must obtain the buyer’s affirmative consent before proceeding with fulfillment. If the buyer does not affirmatively consent, or cannot be reached within 5 business days, the vendor must cancel the order and issue a full refund promptly.  Consistent failure to ship within stated processing times, or repeated failure to issue delay notices and cancellation offers as required, may result in account review or suspension.

9.3 Tracking Information

Vendors must provide valid tracking information for all shipments through the vendor dashboard within 24 hours of generating a shipping label. Buyers rely on tracking information to anticipate delivery and identify potential issues.

9.4 Packaging Standards

Vendors are responsible for packaging items appropriately to prevent damage in transit. This includes using suitable box sizes, adequate cushioning materials, and weatherproofing where appropriate for the item type. Damage resulting from inadequate vendor packaging is the vendor’s financial responsibility.

9.5 Shipping Rate Accuracy

Vendors are responsible for configuring accurate shipping rates in the Platform’s shipping settings. Off Trail Market is not responsible for losses incurred by vendors as a result of misconfigured shipping rates. Vendors who consistently undercharge for shipping may be required to update their shipping configuration or face account review.

9.6 Address Verification

Vendors are responsible for shipping to the address provided in the order details. If a vendor believes an address is incorrect or incomplete, they should contact the buyer through the Platform’s messaging system to verify before shipping. Vendors are not responsible for non-delivery resulting from an incorrect address provided by the buyer.

9.7 Shipping Insurance

Vendors are encouraged to purchase shipping insurance for high-value items. Off Trail Market does not require vendors to insure shipments, but vendors who ship uninsured high-value items bear the financial risk of loss or damage in transit.

10. Shipping Address

It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout. Off Trail Market and vendors are not responsible for non-delivery or delays resulting from an incorrect, incomplete, or undeliverable address.

If you realize you have entered an incorrect address after placing your order, contact the vendor immediately through the Platform’s messaging system. If the order has not yet shipped, the vendor may be able to update the address. Once a shipment has been tendered to the carrier, address changes are subject to carrier policies and fees, which are the buyer’s responsibility.

11. P.O. Boxes and Alternative Delivery Addresses

USPS delivers to P.O. Boxes. UPS, FedEx, and DHL generally do not. If you use a P.O. Box as your shipping address, some vendors may not be able to fulfill your order depending on their carrier configuration. If you are unsure whether a vendor can ship to your P.O. Box, contact the vendor before placing your order.

Military addresses (APO, FPO, DPO) are supported by USPS but may involve longer transit times and are not guaranteed to be supported by all vendors. Contact the vendor before ordering if you have a military address.

12. Changes to This Policy

Off Trail Market reserves the right to update this Shipping Policy at any time. When material changes are made, we will notify registered users via email and post the updated Policy on the Platform with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
